The Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in a SEC college basketball match up. The Gators are -16.5 point favorites over the Crimson Tide.
The Florida Gators are coming off of a loss on the road at Tennessee in a game where they trailed most of the way. Florida is looking for a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament but they are 12-3 in the SEC, 13-0 at home, and they are in first place in the conference standings. The Alabama Crimson Tide have won five of their last six games as they try an play their way into solidly being in the NCAA Tournament. As a team Bama is averaging 63.5 points, 11 assists, and they are shooting 43.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 58.2 points, 10.1 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.3 percent. Trevor Releford is averaging 15.6 points, Trevor Lacey is averaging 11.9 points, and Rodney cooper is averaging 11 points. Alabama has a 62 RPI and a 101 strength of schedule both of which are working against them.
Florida is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games, 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-6 against the spread following a loss. Alabama is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, 1-4 against the spread following a win, and 1-6 against the spread following a game where they covered the point spread. The road team has covered the spread in seven of the last eight meetings of these two.
Florida is laying a bundle here and this series hasn’t been kind to the home team nor the favorite but the Gators have been drilling teams at home this year and we have to think they do it again here.

Pick
Florida Gators -16.5 Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers face off on Tuesday in Tuscaloosa in a SEC college basketball rivalry game. The Crimson Tide are -11.5 point favorites over the Tigers with an over/under of 120.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are looking like they are on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament but with the teams remaining on their schedule they should be able to play their way in if they win out. Alabama is 10-4 in the SEC, 12-3 at home, and they have won six of their last eight games. As a team Alabama is averaging 63.6 points, 11 assists, and they are shooting 43.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 58.7 points, 10.1 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.6 percent. Trevor Releford is averaging 15.4 points, Trevor Lacey is averaging 11.9 points, and Rodney Cooper is averaging 11.4 points. Alabama is coming off of a four overtime loss at LSU on Saturday.
The Auburn Tigers are having a miserable season and their last win was when they beat Alabama six games back. Auburn is 3-11 in the SEC, 1-7 on the road this season, and have a RPI of 219. As a team Auburn is averaging 65.5 points, 12.5 assists, and they are shooting 41.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 68.6 points, 13.6 assists, and their opponents are shooting 43.5 percent. Frankie Sullivan is averaging 14.7 points, Rob Chubb is averaging 8.7 points and 6.8 rebounds, and Allen Payne is averaging 8.2 points. Auburn is nine games below .500 and tied for 12th place in the SEC conference standings.
Alabama is 3-12-1 against the spread following a loss, 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall. Auburn is 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 road games, 0-4 against the spread in their last four games overall, and 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning home record. Auburn has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
Points are going to be hard to come by here and the first game didn’t come close to cracking 100 so my pick is the under.

Pick
Under 120

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. South Carolina Gamecocks

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the South Carolina Gamecocks battle it out on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in a SEC college hoops match up. The Crimson Tide are -12.5 point favorites over the Gamecocks.
The Alabama Crimson Tide were looking like a bubble team but now hey have won four of their last five games and appear to be playing their way into the NCAA Tournament. Alabama is 8-3 in the SEC, 10-3 at home this season, but they have a RPI of 59. As a team Alabama is averaging 62.1 points, 1 assists, and they are shooting 43.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 57.3 points, 9.9 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.1 percent. Trevor Releford is averaging 14.6 points, Trevor Lacey is averaging 11.8 points, and Rodney Cooper is averaging 10.8 points. Alabama looks to still have a lot of winnable games ahead but a stumble against a lesser team will cost them dearly.
The South Carolina Gamecocks are one of the worst teams in major conference college basketball this season playing a weak schedule and performing poorly against it. South Carolina is 2-9 in the SEC, 1-5 on the road this season, and they have lost five games in a row. As a team South Carolina is averaging 67.3 points, 12 assists, and they are shooting 42 percent while defensively they are allowing 68 points, 13 assists, and their opponents are shooting 44.4 percent. Brenton Williams is averaging 10 points, Bruce Ellington is averaging 9.9 points, and Brian Richardson is averaging 8.5 points. South Carolina is coming off of a 20-point home blowout loss to LSU.
Alabama is 4-1 against the spread following a win, 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games, and 1-5 against the spread following a game in which they covered the spread. South Carolina is 3-8 against the spread following a double-digit home loss, 0-4 against the spread following a straight up loss, and 0-5 against the spread against the SEC. The hoe team is 8-3-2 against the spread in the last 13 meetings of these two.
I like Crimson Tide to win this by a large margin.

Pick
Alabama Crimson Tide -12.5 South Carolina Gamecocks

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Kentucky Wildcats

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Kentucky Wildcats face off on Tuesday in Tuscaloosa in SEC college basketball action. The Wildcats are -3.5 point favorites over the Crimson Tide with an over/under point total set at 129.5.
The Alabama Crimson Tide have won three games in a row and are tied for third place in the SEC. Alabama is 7-3 at home this season, 3-1 in the SEC, and they have played the 30th ranked schedule in the nation. As a team Alabama is averaging 65.5 points, 11.8 assists, and they are shooting 45.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 59.1 points, 10.2 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.7 percent. Trevor Lacey is averaging 12.5 points, Trevor Releford is averaging 16.2 points, and Rodney Cooper is averaging 11.6 points. Alabama fought hard on Saturday for the win and they are well prepared to do so when needed this season.
The Kentucky Wildcats are 3-1 in the SEC this season and while a week ago they were looking like a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament they are now playing their best basketball of the season. Kentucky is 2-2 on the road this season and they have played the 53rd ranked schedule in the country. As a team Kentucky is averaging 77.1 points, 15.7 assists, and they are shooting 48.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 61.7 points, 10.9 assists, and their opponents are shooting 38.3 percent. Archie Goodwin is averaging 15 points, Alex Poythress is averaging 13.1 points and 6.4 rebounds, and Nerlens Noel is averaging 10.8 points and 9.2 rebounds. Kentucky has the talent to play with anyone and with no dominant team in the nation it isn’t too late for UK.
Alabama is 2-6 against the spread against the SEC, 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games overall, and 0-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Kentucky is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 road games. 11-4 against the spread following a cover, and 1-6 against the spread against the SEC. The road team has covered in five of the last six meetings of these two.
The total seems to be a little low here and I am going to go with the over.

Pick
Over 129.5

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Volunteers look for their first SEC conference college basketball win of the year as they face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide are -4 point favorites over the Vols with an over/under point total set 120.
The Alabama Crimson Tide have now lost three of their last four games including a 16 point loss to Missouri in their SEC opener. Alabama kept it close against Mizzou most of the way but in the end their road record dropped to 1-3 overall this season. As a team Alabama is averaging 65.7 points, 11.8 assists, and they are shooting 44.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 60.6 points, 11 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.2 percent. Trevor Releford is averaging 16.4 points, Trevor Lacey is averaging 12.3 points, and Rodney Cooper is averaging 12.2 points. Alabama looks to be in for a much longer year than they had anticipated.
The Tennessee Volunteers have now lost their last two games and what looked like a promising team will look to avoid sliding out of contention for a post season berth. The Vols are 0-2 on the road this season and they have played the 57th ranked schedule overall but they simply looked lost getting routed at home by Ole Miss in the SEC opener. As a team Tennessee is averaging 65.2 points, 10.5 assists, and they are shooting 42 percent while defensively they are allowing 61.3 points, 10.2 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.2 percent. Jordan McCrae is averaging 12.7 points, Jarnell Stokes is averaging 11.8 points and 7.8 rebounds, and Trae Golden is averaging 11.4 points and 4.2 assists. Tennessee needs a big win get their momentum moving in the right direction.
Alabama is 6-13 against the spread following a game they didn’t cover the spread, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall. Tennessee is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 8-3 against the spread against the SEC, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. The road team has covered the spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
We are getting nice value on Tennessee here as it isn’t just too many points, they could win outright.

Pick
Tennessee Volunteers +4 Alabama Crimson Tide

Texas Tech Raiders vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Wednesday in college basketball action. The Crimson Tide are -10 point favorites over the Red Raiders.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders have lost two of their last three games and this is their eighth home game of the season thus far. Billy Gillespie is looking to show the crowd in Lubbock that he has what it takes to turn the Red Raiders program around. As a team Texas Tech is averaging 80.3 points, 12.7 assists, and they are shooting 46.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 72.4 points, 12.9 assists, and their opponents are shooting 45.7 percent. Jaye Crockett is averaging 15.6 points and 8.6 rebounds, Josh Gray is averaging 11.9 points, and Dejan Kravic is averaging 11.3 points and 5.3 rebounds. The toughest part of Texas Tech’s schedule is in front of them and in their first real test this year they lost to Arizona by 18.
The Alabama Crimson Tide started the season by winning their first six games but they have lost their last three games. Alabama has played the 36th ranked schedule in the nation but they need to get some positive m0omentum heading into their SEC schedule which begins against Missouri on January 8th. As a team Alabama is averaging 68 points, 12.7 assists, and they are shooting 44.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 59.8 points, 9.8 assists, and their opponents are shooting 40.6 percent. Trevor Releford is averaging 15.9 points, Rodney Cooper is averaging 13.5 points, and Trevor Lacey is averaging 13.4 points. Alabama is a talented team and none of their three recent losses came against a slouch.
Texas Tech is 5-17 against the spread in their last 22 non-conference games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall, and 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Alabama is 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 5-12 against the spread following a game they didn’t cover the spread, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against the Big 12.
This line looks just a little too big and while Alabama is the better team and likely wins, it should be closer than the number.

Pick
Texas Tech Red Raiders +10 Alabama Crimson Tide

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

The Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in the Georgia Dome in the SEC Championship game with a trip to the BCS National Championship going to the winner. The Crimson Tide are -8 point favorites over the Bulldogs with an over/under point total set 51.
The Georgia Bulldogs have navigated their way through their regular season schedule with just one loss but the knock on Mark Richt’s team will be that they didn’t face the toughest teams in the SEC this year missing most of them on their schedule. Georgia didn’t play LSU, Alabama, nor Texas A&M but UGA get a chance to prove themselves here. Aaron Murray has completed 66.6 percent of his passes with 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Todd Gurley is averaging 6.5 yards per carry for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns and Keith Marshall is averaging 6.7 yards per carry with eight touchdowns. Malcolm Mitchell has 36 catches and four touchdowns, Tavarres King has 24 catches and eight touchdowns, and Marlon Brown has 27 catches and four touchdowns. Defensively Georgia is allowing 17.7 points per game, 163.4 rushing yards, and 174.4 passing yards with 10 interceptions and 24 sacks. Alec Ogletree has 87 tackles, Shawn Williams has 78 tackles, and Jarvis Jones has 71 tackles and 10.5 sacks. Georgia will be making their second trip in a row to the SEC Championship and they are hoping for better results than last year when they lost to LSU.
The Alabama Crimson Tide were ranked number one for most of the season but after a late season stumble against Texas A&M they finished ranked second. Nick Saban’s team is looking to make it back to back National Championships but first they need to win this one to even get to that game where they would face Notre Dame. A.J. McCarron has completed 67.2 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and two interceptions. Eddie Lacy averages 6.1 yards per carry with 14 touchdowns and T.J. Yeldon is averaging 6.6 yards per carry with 10 touchdowns. Amari Cooper has 45 catches and eight touchdowns, Kevin Norwood has 26 catches and four touchdowns, and Christion Jones has 24 catches and four touchdowns. Defensively Alabama has been rock solid allowing 9.2 points per game, 77 rushing yards, and 156.7 passing yards with 16 interceptions and 30 sacks. C.J. Mosley has 92 tackles, Trey Depriest and Nico Johnson each have 52 tackles, and Vinnie Sunseri has 51 tackles. Alabama was in the championship a year ago but most of these players weren’t on the roster or starting.
Georgia is 4-1 against the spread following a win, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven neutral site games, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall. Alabama is 6-0 against the spread in their last six neutral site games, 12-5 against the spread in their last 17 SEC games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
The total in this one is set at 51 but that looks to be a bit too high as this should belong to the defense and the kickers.

Pick
Under 51

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Texas A&M Aggies

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas A&M Aggies face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in a battle of highly ranked SEC teams.  The Crimson Tide are -13.5 point favorites over the Aggies.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off of what easily was their stiffest test of the year as they went into Baton Rouge and came from behind to beat LSU and keep their number one ranking. A.J. McCarron has completed 66.7 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns without throwing an interception and he is getting some Heisman Trophy consideration. T.J. Yeldon looks to be a star in the making as he is averaging 7.0 yards per carry with seven touchdowns as well as catching the game winning screen pass at LSU and Eddie Lacy is averaging 5.7 yards per carry with eight touchdowns. Amari Cooper has 32 catches and five touchdowns, Kevin Norwood has 20 catches and two touchdowns, and Christion Jones has 17 catches and three touchdowns. Defensively Alabama allows just 9.1 points per game, 66,3 rushing yards, and 162.6 passing yards with 14 interceptions and 23 sacks. C.J. Mosely has 69 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions and Nico Johnson and Trey Depriest each have 44 tackles. Alabama is three games away from a perfect regular season but they still have plenty of work ahead of them.

The Texas A&M Aggies are one of the most improved teams in college football and they are also one of the most exciting to watch. The Aggies offense revolves around freshman QB Johnny Manziel who has completed 66.6 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 922 yards and 15 touchdowns. Ben Malena is averaging 6.6 yards per carry and Christine Michael is averaging 4.7 yards per carry with eight touchdowns as the Aggies have plenty of firepower in the backfield. Mike Evans has 56 catches and two touchdowns, Ryan Swope has 45 catches and five touchdowns, and Thomas Johnson has 27 catches. Defensively Texas A&M is allowing 21 points per game, 132.1 rushing yards, and 245 passing yards with seven interceptions and 27 sacks. Damontre Moore has 69 tackles and 11.5 sacks, Jonathan Stewart has 58 tackles, and Steven Jenkins has 52 tackles. Texas A&M’s two losses have come to LSU and Florida, both games which they led and were unable to hold on.

Alabama is 7-3 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games, and 6-2 against the spread in their last eight SEC games. Texas A&M is 1-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 7-15 against the spread following a win of 20 or more points, and 4-10 against the spread following a win.

While Manziel presents his own sets of challenges I don’t see the Aggies defense being good enough here in what could be close for a half.

Pick

Alabama Crimson Tide -13.5 Texas A&M Aggies

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Mississippi St. Bulldogs

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Mississippi State Bulldogs face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in a battle of undefeated SEC teams.  The Crimson Tide are -24 point favorites over the Bulldogs with an over/under total set at 47.5.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are the number one ranked team in the nation and they don’t look like they are going to beat themselves so it is going to take for a team to stand up for them for the Tide to fall this year. A.J. McCarron has completed 68.8 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns. Eddie Lacy is averaging 5.8 yards per carry with seven touchdowns and T.J. Yeldon averages 6.8 yards per carry with six touchdowns to power the Alabama running game. Amari Cooper is the Tide’s leading receiver with 28 catches and five touchdowns, Kevin Norwood has 14 catches and two touchdowns, and Christion Jones has 12 catches and three touchdowns. The Bama defense has been rock solid allowing just 8.3 points per game, 58.7 yards rushing, and 136.9 passing yards per game with 13 interceptions and 19 sacks. C.J. Mosley has 58 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two interceptions and Nico Johnson and Trey DePriest have 30 tackles each. Alabama has overmatched everyone they have played in every aspect of the game.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs enter this week’s game undefeated but they also have the bulk of their SEC schedule ahead of them and the much tougher part of it as well. Tyler Russell has completed 60.1percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns and one interception. LaDarius Perkins is averaging 5.8 yards per carry with eight touchdowns to lead MSU while Derrick Milton averages 6.8 yards per carry with two touchdowns. Chad Bumphis leads Mississippi State receivers with 29 catches and six touchdowns, Chris Smith has 26 catches and two touchdowns, and Arceto Clark and Marcus Green have 15 catches each. Defensively Mississippi State allows 14.4 points per game, 139.1 rushing yards , and 188.6 passing yards with 12 interceptions and 11 sacks. Bernardrick McKinney has 55 tackles that leads the Bulldogs, Cameron Lawrence has 49 tackles, and Nickoe Whitley 45 tackles. This is a big test for Mississippi State and they simply can’t afford to turn the ball over.

Alabama is 5-1 against the spread in their last six SEC games, 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games, and 12-4 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points. Mississippi State is 4-0 against the spread in their last five SEC games, 5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games overall. The home team has covered four of the last five meetings of these two.

Mississippi State has benefitted from a light schedule but at the same time they haven’t stumbled and might be getting just a few too many points here so the play is talking the four scores.

Pick

Mississippi St. Bulldogs +24 Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Missouri Tigers

The Missouri Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in SEC college football action.  The Tide are -21 point favorites over the Tigers.

The Missouri Tigers continue seek their first SEC win as they have realized life in their new conference is tougher than they could have ever imagined. QB James Franklin has completed 61.3 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and two interceptions but the offense has struggled as he has rushed for just 1.5 yards per attempt. Kendial Lawrence leads the Missouri ground attack with 5.7 yards per carry and five touchdowns and he also has 10 receptions and Marcus Murphy averages 6.4 yards per carry on light action. Marcus Lucas has 30 catches and two touchdowns, T.J. Moe has 24 catches and a touchdown, and Gahn McGaffie has 18 catches. Defensively Missouri allows 22.8 points per game, 107.5 rushing yards, and 219.2 passing yards with five interceptions and 15 sacks. Will Ebner has 41 tackles and E.J. Gaines and Sheldon Richardson each have 38 tackles while Richardson has three sacks as well. Missouri had several suspensions last week against Vandy which didn’t help their cause in a disappointing loss.

The Alabama Crimson Tide had a bye last week but they have been nothing short of impressive thus far this year. QB A.J. McCarron has completed 65.8 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and no interceptions. The Tide once again have a talented backfield led by Eddie Lacy averaging 4.9 yards per carry with four touchdowns, T.J. Yeldon averaging 5.8 yards with two touchdowns, and Kenyan Drake averaging 9.7 yards with three touchdowns. Amari Copper leads the Alabama receivers with 17 catches and three touchdowns and Kevin Norwood and Christion Jones each have nine catches with five touchdowns between them. Defensively Alabama is a rock allowing just 7.0 points per game, 65.8 rushing yards per game, and 125.8 passing yards per game with nine interceptions and 16 sacks. C.J. Mosley has 39 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and an interception, Nico Johnson has 24 tackles, and Trey Depriest has 21 tackles. It is going to take a big effort to beat Bama this season as they have shown no signs they are going to try and beat themselves with bad mistakes.

Missouri is 5-0 against the spread following a loss, 8-1 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover, and 2-7 against the spread in their last nine home games against a team with a winning record. Alabama is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games, 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 SEC games, and 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games on field turf.

I am not expecting Mizzou to knock off the Tide here but I am expecting them to give it 100 percent and to not get run over. This is a generous number for the home team and I’ll cautiously take my chances in what is a slight lean.

Pick

Missouri Tigers +21 Alabama Crimson Tide
